ELITE aims to promote in students, professors, staff and partners, 10 critical capabilities which can lead them to act as transforming citizens. An education approach motivated in classrooms and workshops, intertwining firsthand experiences with knowledge as the core process. Methodologies such as project-based learning turns in to a scenario for the deployment of ELITE capabilities, stimulating habits and daily practices. ELITE’s thinking and capabilities are oriented and nurtured by the experience and thoughts of the institution’s leaders who conceive it and build it every day.

These 10 cardinal features of a successful professional, have been defined as capabilities because we understand them as a set of skills and attitudes that ELITE sets to discover, awaken, inspire, encourage and train in students and in the educational community. We are keen to having the capabilities mediate processes such as their perception and interpretation of the environment, discerning about their mission as individuals and organizations, and consequently, their commitment to action based on reality. Such is our expectation of individuals in a broad sense of their capabilities.

By educating in capabilities we seek to develop an effect equivalent to talent. Human beings are capable of achieving more than we expect, every generation may and must overcome the achievements of previous generations. To do so we need to increase our ability to understand, think and do. The limit is only imposed by one’s own effort and discipline. Hence the primary purpose of the education at ELITE is learning to think based on these capabilities framework, and develop skills and competencies in several of them.

The 10 capabilities

Foresight (prospective thinking). Builds future scenarios in order to visualize, without the barriers of the present, changes and creations that improve the knowledge and possibilities of individuals, organizations and society.

Innovation, simulation and prototyping. Leading creativity to value purposes which represent effective solutions to the needs and opportunities of individuals, groups and society, based on mental or technicized prototyping and simulation exercises.

Entrepreneurial thinking. The innovative purpose is the seed of entrepreneurship. It requires a certain entrepreneurial setting to develop, gain followers, find its momentum and be expressed as a feasible reality. Entrepreneurial thinking can deploy deep and agile analysis, make decisions and act with efficacy to capture value ideas and opportunities, and turn them into attractive facts.

Strategy. In order to capture opportunities with a decision making procedure that effectively articulates the projected future with available resources, capacities and processes, it’s essential to deploy  major strategic routes of value for individual and organizational development.  Strategic mindsets constantly read complexity and devise best possible courses of action.

Project management. Considering purpose, prospective and strategy, project management leads to structure a step by step route which organize action, delegates responsibilities, manages resources, internalize risk, prepares for contingencies, and establishes early and long-term achievements.

Technology Management. Effective appropriation of technologies will support the efficacy of individual and organizational performance.

Execution. Closes the gap between purpose and results. Requires permanent management and follow up of people, resources and processes in a framework of reality.

Social Responsibility. The result of interactions between free and committed individuals and organizations, who in seek of their welfare, broadly perceive reality and reflect on it with responsible thinking and action.  As a capability it starts with a conscious curiosity to interpret the environment, going beyond individual prejudice and consequently, reciprocating with free thinking and respectful actions.

Sustainability. The result of using resources and designing processes in a framework of present and future productivity, as well as of adopting practices and methods towards its renewal and recovery and the development of its full potential. Refers to human, financial, technological, environmental, intellectual, cultural and social resources.

Leadership. The above sequence of capabilities integrates in a single one: leadership, an attribute born with all individuals and cultivated on their exceptional efforts to mobilize, compromise and empower peers, groups, organizations and society.
